If you are accepted onto the China Career Gateway’s teaching programmes, you are guaranteed with a teaching placement in Beijing/Nanjing, in a school or an educational institute.

In order to do one of the Teaching Placements with CCG, participants are required to have a work sponsorship visa for entry into China PR.

China Career Gateway will assist you in arranging a work sponsorship visa once we have arranged a placement with a school/an educational institute for you.

Upon providing us with confirmation that you have obtained your work visa to enter China for your teaching placement, and your flight number and arrival time, we will send you pre-departure information and advice that cover a list of things you should prepare for your stay in China, for example: average living costs, weather information, a checklist of things you should bring for your programme.

You can email China Career Gateway any questions you may have regarding your teaching placement at Contact@chinacareergateway.com. We also assist you in booking flights and obtaining travel and medical insurance.

You should inform China Career Gateway when you have booked your flight tickets, so that we can welcome you at the airport in the city where your teaching placement is and help you arrange airport transfer, so that you together with any other participants who arrive around the same time are transferred to your accommodation.

Please note that you will have to pay for the transfer to the provider at that time.We shall provide you with details of the approximate cost in the pre-departure information.

Throughout your teaching placement, you will be provided with free accommodation, with easy access to public transportation. You will have a good-size bedroom and share the kitchen, living room and the bathroom with two other participants who are also enrolled in the gap year English teaching programmes.

One week before the start of your placement, you will be joining us in the Orientation Programme which lasts for one week, during which we will be holding training programmes on Chinese culture, work ethics and some basic Mandarin Chinese.

We also assist you in obtaining TESOL certificate at a discount rate upon request.

You will be earning between RMB4,500 – RMB6,000 (GBP450 – GBP600) per month, depending on your arrangement with the schools and the hours you teach. During the winter holidays (usually 4 weeks), you will not be teaching but will be getting half the amount of your monthly salary.

The rate of your salary is best in the market and it is more than enough to cover your living expenses in China, as a decent meal in a restaurant costs about £2, a large beer costs £1 and bus/metro fares cost 50p the most.

During the welcome banquet, you will be introduced to your local programme mentor that you can contact should you have any questions about your stay in China. China Career Gateway will make sure that you have a safe and fun stay in China.

You are automatically enrolled in our alumni network once you participate in any of our programmes. You will be able to stay in touch with the participants who were part of our programmes in the past and meet with them in our alumni socials. Having mentioned the importance of ‘contacts’ (Guan Xi), here we provide you with the perfect opportunity to access not only the like-minded talented ambitious young professionals, but also the contacts from China Career Gateway’ immense business network across the mainland China.

We organise optional mandarin classes in the evenings for those who are in our Gap Year Teaching Programme at a rate 18 GBP/hour (one-to-one) or at a rate of 12 GBP/hour in a group of 8-12 students taught by qualified Mandarin teacher.
