Our Internship package is highly comprehensive, with an extensive range of features:
Visa Assistance In order to do an internship China Career Gateway organises, participants are required to have a business (F) visa for entry into China PR. What is required for our programmes is a Business visa (F-visa) which usually lasts 3 months. It is available from the appropriate Chinese Embassy or Consulate. It can take up to 20 working days to process depending on the country you apply the visa from. China Career Gateway will assist you in arranging the appropriate Business Visa once we have arranged an internship with a company for you.
Pre-departure Information Upon providing us with confirmation that you have obtained your business visa to enter China for your internship, and your flight number and arrival time, we will send you pre-departure information and advice that cover a list of things you should prepare for your internship and stay in China, for example: average living costs, weather information, a checklist of things you should bring for your programme stay. You will also be given contacts at the company where you will intern, so that you can get to know some of your colleagues and your company more in order to better prepare for your internship. You can email China Career Gateway any questions you may have regarding your internship and the programme in general. We can also assist you in booking flights and obtaining travel and medical insurance.

Programme Induction We hold a welcome banquet for you and other participants in both our China Internships and Chinese Language & Business Culture programmes, so that you can get to know each other from the very start. You will be introduced to the China Career Gateway staff during this wonderful dinner. Furthermore, some key people from each industry will be invited. Hence, you will be having the chance to do some business networking and make some contacts from the very first day of your stay in China. Over the course of your internship, we will hold business etiquette classes to help you establish a better understanding of how business is done in China and how to get around easily.
Business culture classes & Networking Events It is noticeable that ‘contact’ (guan xi) in China is absolutely essential in terms of doing business and getting a deal done, knowing the right people means a short-cut/direct route to what you want to achieve. Having a business card and handing it over to your clients or the people you meet the right way is really important. The ‘Business Dinner’ manner and culture in China is something truly unique, extremely different from the western manners and something you will not understand or experience as a tourist. We will introduce you to all of these business etiquettes. It is our goal that by the end of the internship, you will have a deep understanding of the industry you are in and that you know the Chinese business culture and the subtle relationship between business counter parties. Knowing how to deal with Chinese business and how to do business in China can really connect ‘the west’ to ‘the east’, and this is something really different that makes you stand out from the crowd and you can use to contribute positively to any international business.
Social & Cultural activities It is central to China Career Gateway’s philosophy that you are in China not just about work tasks, we aim to make your stay fun by hosting regular social & cultural activities, which help you better integrate to the local community. Examples of the events we organise are: social nights out to introduce you to the Chinese colourful night life; Karaoke evening – something that is extremely popular among today’s Chinese young generation; Chinese Cuisine – How does the Pecking Duck experience sound to you?
Accommodation Throughout the duration of the Internship and Chinese Language & Business Culture classes programs, participants will be housed together in 3* accommodation in the city centres of Nanjing, Shanghai and Beijing respectively. For more details on accommodation, please click the Accommodation on the right hand side.
24/7 ongoing support in China During the welcome banquet, you will be introduced to your local programme mentor that you can contact should you have any questions about your internship or daily life.
China Career Gateway Alumni Network You are automatically enrolled in our alumni network once you participate in any of our programmes. You will be able to stay in touch with the participants who were part of our programmes in the past and meet with them in our alumni socials.
